They need a credible mentor whose personal accomplishments define what's possible: someone capable of commanding attention, establishing expectations, and guiding them through friction, distraction, and uncertainty. Your role does not involve teaching content. AI delivers instruction. Your responsibility is to inspire, coach, and uphold the same exacting standards you've applied to yourself. Forty percent of your time is spent in direct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching sessions that identify obstacles and establish ambitious targets. Another forty percent involves facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery rather than engagement. The final twenty percent is devoted to morning kickoffs that create a culture where excellence is the baseline. The trajectory here emphasizes depth over advancement. You begin by mastering Alpha's framework and earning student trust. Within months, you become the person they allow to push them beyond perceived limits. The outcome is not a title change. It is continuity: the same students, year over year, maturing with your guidance. It is witnessing a student who avoided eye contact in September deliver a confident presentation to adults in May. What You Will Be Doing Conduct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching sessions leveraging Coachbot analytics and student performance data to identify obstacles, establish ambitious objectives, and ensure accountability for execution. Facilitate structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery by drawing on credible narratives from your own elite background, followed by mastery assessment through Alpha's Test2Pass framework. Establish campus culture each morning through targeted kickoffs that reinforce high-performance standards. Monitor student progress continuously and adapt coaching approaches based on evidence rather than intuition. Cultivate trusted mentor relationships with students and families by maintaining high expectations, consistency, and documented motivation strategies. What You Won’t Be Doing Deliver lessons, create curriculum, or evaluate assignments—Alpha's AI-driven academic platform manages instruction; your focus is motivation. Present to a full classroom of 30 students; your work centers on intensive coaching in small groups, not large-scale instruction. Supervise other employees or pursue an administrative career path; this position prioritizes direct student outcomes, not organizational advancement. Attend faculty meetings or manage institutional bureaucracy; your time remains dedicated to students. Compromise standards to satisfy metrics; if a student achieves 99%, your task is to identify what prevented 100%. Academic Success Coach Key Responsibilities Drive exceptional student motivation, growth, and life-skill mastery at Alpha's highest-expectation campuses. Basic Requirements Bachelor's degree. At least one instance of exceptional achievement in a highly selective, globally recognized domain (e.g., national or international competition medals, top-tier university with distinction, highly selective firm or fellowship, elite performing arts institution, or founding and scaling a successful venture). At least 3 years of experience in student coaching, youth mentoring, athletic coaching, or leadership roles where you measurably raised others' performance. Willing to work in-person at an Alpha campus in Santa Barbara, CA; Santa Monica, CA; San Francisco, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boston, MA; New York City, NY; or Seattle, WA (relocation support provided). Nice-to-have Requirements Background in elite competitive athletics (varsity D1, national team, or professional level) with experience coaching or mentoring younger athletes. Experience in high-accountability environments like management consulting, investment banking, or military leadership. Track record of youth development through mentoring in non-academic settings (community organizations, after-school programs, sports camps).
