Key Account Manager II

Summary Key Account Manager II is a salesperson responsible for meeting sales quotas and expense budgets for assigned clients by managing sales programs, promotional spending, distribution levels, shelf placement and strategic planning initiatives. The role collaborates with clients to develop strategic plans, works with retailer associates on headquarters calls, and owns the client relationship. Decisions on trade fund spending are made to drive increased sales, and contracts are signed and executed on behalf of clients. This position may service one or multiple clients, covering Pioneering, Regional, or Tier 3 manufacturers. Responsibilities Drive our clients' business at assigned customer accounts, increase distribution, grow sales dollars/units/share/other KPIs while staying on budget. Ensure retail/merchandising execution and basic eCommerce execution. Achieve targeted income and expense budgets by implementing promotional and marketing strategies. Analyze trends and results to identify growth opportunities and make recommendations to clients and customers. Monitor and drive growth through efficient management of promotional spending within guidelines on assigned clients. Maintain strict control and accounting of accrual and bill‑back funds to meet budgetary goals. Manage period‑ending fund balance performance with no overspends versus trade budget. Meet or exceed clients’ goals for sales, distribution, share, pricing, shelving, and promotional volume. Launch strategies to pursue new opportunities. Implement retailer headquarters calls and penetrate key positions at the retailer to achieve sales goals while managing marketing and promotional funds within financial guidelines. Ensure retail pricing and indirect order guides are updated and discrepancies corrected. Secure client‑approved schematics for all client brands through coordination with schematic, reset, and retail departments. Ensure incremental sales through distribution of new products and maintenance of existing SKU sets. Collaborate with category management to develop retailer presentations using database rationale such as SKU optimization, promotion causal data, and lift analysis. Manage accounts to achieve targeted ACV on innovation. Build and maintain effective client and retailer relationships to ensure customer access and relevance to key stakeholders. Develop sales presentations for customers and clients to demonstrate accomplishments and opportunities. Demonstrate ability to penetrate key positions at retailers during HQ calls. Offer strategic input for annual business plans, problem solving, and ongoing customer management, finding win‑win scenarios for retailer and client objectives. Provide timely and clear communication on client goals, programs, price changes, and priorities to all necessary stakeholders. Resolve difficult situations, issues, and conflicts to achieve effective outcomes. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Experience: 4–6 years of experience managing or working closely with key retailers, including department heads, category managers, buyers, and other retail stakeholders; proven track record of managing high‑value accounts, developing long‑term relationships, and delivering on customer objectives such as sales growth and promotional execution.   • Ability to complete multiple duties with accuracy while shifting between tasks and meeting competing deadlines
Travel Requirements Travel and driving are essential duties. Travel up to 20 % of the time. Environmental & Physical Requirements Primarily office / sedentary. Must be able to sit for extended periods (66 %+ of each day), hear telephone, enter data on a computer, and lift up to 10 lb. Work is performed in an office environment.
