Operations Assistant

Reports to: VP, Operations Officer

This position does not offer remote access. It is an in-office position located in Winsted, CT.

Summary of the Role

The Operations Assistant supports the daily operational functions of the Bank by processing transactions, reconciling accounts, supporting deposit and cash management products, servicing customer and employee requests, and ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements, supporting and managing deposit products to include IRA/HSA portfolios. This role serves as a critical operations resource, helping maintain the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of operational processes while delivering exceptional internal and external customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional service to internal and external customers by responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and supporting banking operations
• Process account transactions including deposits, transfers, wires, ACH transactions, and other payment-related activities accurately and efficiently
• Reconcile accounts and operational reports, identify discrepancies, and take appropriate corrective action
• Support cash management products and services, including customer setup, maintenance, and product administration
• Assist with onboarding, documentation, implementation, and servicing of business banking products and services
• Monitor operational activity to ensure compliance with bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Support fraud investigations, adjustment claims, legal processes, and internal bank controls
• Assist with internal and external audits by gathering documentation and responding to requests
• Maintain accurate customer and transaction records within bank systems
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, enhance efficiency, and strengthen operational effectiveness
• Provide help desk and operational support as assigned and participate in special projects

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in business or accounting preferred
• Six months to three years of banking operations, accounting, financial services, or related experience preferred
• Knowledge of banking regulations, operational procedures, and account reconciliation practices
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and banking systems, including COCC and Insight
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive customer information
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Primarily office-based role requiring prolonged sitting, computer usage, and frequent visual attention to detailed information. Occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 10 pounds may be required. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
