As a Cook, you'll play an important role in delivering fresh, high-quality meals and memorable dining experiences for our guests across restaurant service, banquets, catering, breakfast operations, and special events. Culinary Preparation & Cooking

• Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, portioning guidelines, presentation standards, and food safety requirements.
• Perform a variety of food preparation and cooking tasks, including chopping, prepping ingredients, cooking, plating, and station setup.
• Prepare and cook food for breakfast service, restaurant dining, banquets, catering, and special events.
• Maintain consistency, quality, and presentation standards across all food items and guest orders.
• Ensure kitchen workstations remain clean, organized, stocked, and operational throughout shifts.

Banquets, Catering & Events

• Prepare and cook food for meetings, events, weddings, and group dining experiences.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of meeting rooms, ensuring food and beverage service is maintained and cleaned throughout hotel events.
• Assist with transporting food and beverage items, along with necessary supplies and equipment, to and from buffet areas efficiently.

Food Safety, Sanitation & Equipment

• Follow food safety regulations, sanitation standards, HACCP guidelines, and health department requirements at all times.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and properly including grills, fryers, ovens, slicers, mixers, and prep tools.
• Assist with minimizing food waste, maintaining kitchen efficiency, and supporting operational goals.

Inventory & Team Collaboration

• Monitor food inventory levels and communicate supply or prep needs to culinary leadership.
• Collaborate closely with chef, kitchen team members, and Food & Beverage staff to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
• Help create a positive, safe, and team-focused kitchen environment aligned with Sonesta's People People culture.

• Perform any other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2 - 3 years recent professional cooking experience, in a restaurant, hotel, culinary, banquet, catering, or food service experience preferred.
• Knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations, food safety standards, and sanitation procedures.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to food quality, consistency, and presentation.
• Ability to accurately follow recipes, preparation and cooking procedures, prep schedules, and kitchen standards.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
• Flexible availability including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed in a hospitality environment.
• A passion for hospitality, cooking and food preparation, teamwork, and creating memorable dining experiences for guests.

Ability to speak, read, and write English sufficiently to understand recipes, safety procedures, instructions, and workplace communications. Additional language skills are beneficial.

Basic reading, writing and mathematical skills required to follow recipes, measure ingredients, portion food, and perform basic kitchen calculations.

Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently bend, climb, kneel, reach, and move throughout the kitchen about the facility.

Ability to carry, lift or pull items weighing up to 75 pounds.

Regularly work with and around commercial cleaning and sanitizing chemicals while following proper safety and handling procedures.

Will be required to obtain a ServSafe Food Handler Certification.

May be required to obtain a TIPS certification.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by business needs.
