AP/AR Specialist

The HT Group is seeking an AP/AR Specialist for a client in Orange, TX. This position is a contract to hire opportunity, offering a pay rate of $20–$25 per hour, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:30AM-4:30PM.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on accounts payable and receivable experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage daily accounting transactions accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities:
- Review, code, and process vendor invoices, matching purchase orders with receiving documentation
- Process customer payments, including checks and credit cards, and accurately apply payments to customer accounts
- Research and resolve invoice discrepancies, payment issues, credits, and account balances
- Maintain accurate vendor and customer records, including account setups, credit applications, and required documentation
- Assist with AP/AR reconciliations, aging reports, collections support, and month-end accounting activities
- Communicate with vendors, customers, and internal departments to resolve billing and payment inquiries
- Maintain organized accounting records and ensure compliance with established procedures
- Provide general accounting and administrative support to the Controller and Senior Accountant as needed
- High school diploma or GED required; additional accounting education is a plus but not required
- Previous experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or general accounting required
- Working knowledge of basic accounting principles, invoice processing, and payment posting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using accounting software or ERP systems
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently
- Experience in industrial distribution, manufacturing, wholesale, or inventory-based operations is a plus
