The Protein Homeostasis Thematic Research Center at BMS is a fundamental Oncology research engine delivering oncology and hematology therapeutics to patients. The TRC has a major focus on exploiting BMS’ expertise in protein degradation to discover and develop therapies aimed at tumor intrinsic vulnerabilities and mechanisms of resistance to existing cancer therapeutics. This focus on protein degradation allows us to attack protein classes that were previously deemed undruggable. Position Responsibilities In the role as a Sr Associate Scientist within Molecular Pharmacology group, the ideal candidate: Develop and execute a range of assays to support structure–activity relationship (SAR) studies Design and implement biochemical and cell-based assays to enable target validation and mechanism-of-action (MOA) investigations Analyze, interpret, and present data in team meetings and potentially cross-functional forums Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to drive project progress and achieve program objectives Experience = Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree 4+ years of academic and / or industry experience Or Master’s Degree 2+ years of academic and / or industry experience Preferred Qualifications: Technical and Scientific Experience Advanced cell culture skills with hands-on experience in cell engineering and gene editing, including CRISPR, RNAi, gene overexpression, and lentiviral transduction Expertise in cell-based assays and high-throughput screening (HTS), including cell proliferation, cell cycle, apoptosis, 3D sphere formation, and senescence Experience with molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry techniques, such as qPCR, immunofluorescence, Western blot, ELISA, MSD, and FACS Experience in MOA studies using integrative multi-omic approaches, including preparation of samples for proteomic, transcriptomic, and chromatin-binding studies Familiarity with key aspects of SAR support using a variety of biological assays Proven publication record as a major contributor or author is a plus Ability to design, plan, and execute scientific experiments with moderate supervision Strong attention to detail and ability to follow laboratory procedures and execute bench experiments Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools, including MS Office and GraphPad Prism Professional Skills and Work Requirements Highly motivated, innovative, and able to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills Ability to deliver high-quality data in a timely and well-organized manner Flexibility to support business needs, including occasional weekend work, early starts, late end times, and learning new skill sets and techniques This position requires primarily on-site presence #LI-Onsite If you come across a role that intrigues you but doesn’t perfectly line up with your resume, we encourage you to apply anyway. Compensation Overview: San Diego - CA - US: $100,480 - $121,756 The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience.
