Sourcing Director, Commercial Category Management - Foster City, CA

Gilead Sciences seeks a Sourcing Director for Commercial Category Management to develop and execute procurement strategies for commercial services, external affairs, and related categories. The role focuses on cost optimization, supplier relationship management, and delivering value across global procurement initiatives while supporting the organization's mission to innovate life-changing therapies.

Responsibilities

Develop category strategies for commercial services and external affairs to achieve cost savings and improve quality
Establish stakeholder engagement plans and define business partnering objectives with success metrics
Identify and implement high-impact initiatives such as demand shaping and supplier consolidations
Lead category innovation by evaluating external trends and translating them into scalable improvements
Oversee spend activity, manage purchase requests, and collaborate across functions to identify business requirements

Requirements

Bachelor's degree with 12+ years professional experience, or Master's degree with 10+ years, or PhD with 8+ years
Experience in procurement, supplier management, corporate strategy, or diversity and inclusion
Demonstrated expertise in category management and strategic sourcing
Strong stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration skills
Knowledge of supply market dynamics and supplier relationship management
Ability to identify and drive process improvements and innovation initiatives
