HR & Recruiting Lead

Hybrid initially; fully remote beginning May 2027 - Must be located in Huntsville, AL

About the Role

As our HR & Recruiting Lead, you will serve as MAC3’s HR subject matter expert for client engagements, providing practical guidance and independently managing clients’ HR and recruiting needs.

This is a hands-on role with responsibility for service development and client delivery. You will advise business owners, navigate employee matters, establish processes, and manage competing priorities across multiple clients. Strong HR generalist expertise is essential, along with the ability to manage recruiting assignments.

What You’ll Do

Client HR Support

• Serve as the primary HR resource for assigned clients, providing clear recommendations and dependable follow-through.
• Advise clients on employee relations, performance management, corrective action, and other workplace matters.
• Develop and update employee handbooks, policies, job descriptions, and HR procedures.
• Support onboarding, offboarding, employee documentation, and personnel records.
• Identify HR gaps and establish practical processes suited to each client’s size and needs.
• Research applicable requirements and recognize when an issue requires employment counsel or other specialized support.
• Coordinate with MAC3’s payroll, benefits, background screening, and security teams to provide consistent client support.

Recruiting

• Work with clients to define hiring needs, position requirements, and candidate qualifications.
• Develop job postings and source candidates through LinkedIn, job boards, referrals, and other channels.
• Screen applicants, conduct initial interviews, and present qualified candidates.
• Coordinate client interviews, candidate communications, and offer processes.
• Maintain organized recruiting records and keep clients informed of progress.

Service Development and Ownership

• Help define MAC3’s HR and recruiting service packages, deliverables, and scope.
• Develop reusable templates, workflows, and client onboarding processes.
• Recommend pricing and client capacity based on the work required to deliver services effectively.
• Establish consistent service standards and track client commitments.
• Identify improvements and take ownership of implementing agreed changes.
• Keep leadership informed of client needs, delivery concerns, and opportunities to strengthen the service.

What We’re Looking For

• Substantial hands-on HR generalist experience, including independently advising managers or business owners.
• Demonstrated experience handling employee relations, policies, performance management, onboarding, and offboarding.
• Recruiting experience that includes sourcing, screening, and managing candidates through the hiring process.
• Ability to assess an unfamiliar situation, research options, and recommend a practical course of action.
• Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information.
• Strong written communication and the ability to explain HR recommendations clearly.
• Ability to organize multiple client assignments and follow through without step-by-step direction.
• Comfort building processes while also delivering day-to-day client work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience providing outsourced HR support or consulting to multiple small businesses.
• Experience supporting government contractors.
• Experience recruiting for technical or cleared positions.
• SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
• Familiarity with HR information systems, applicant tracking systems, and workflow management tools.
