National Tree Company is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to support the Company's accounting operations and financial reporting functions. Reporting directly to the Controller/CFO, this individual will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Company's financial records, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting the Company's asset-based lending (ABL) reporting requirements. Compensation Salary Range: $120,000 – $150,000 annually The actual starting salary will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Primary Responsibilities Assist in the management of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process. Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and financial reporting. Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting packages. Prepare the Company's weekly borrowing base certificate and supporting collateral schedules for the Company's asset-based lending facility. Coordinate internally to ensure accurate reporting of accounts receivable, inventory, and other borrowing base components. Support annual financial statement audits and assist with the preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation. Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies. Assist with cash management, account reconciliations, and balance sheet analysis. Review inventory accounting, reserves, standard costing, and cost of goods sold analysis. Assist with sales tax, property tax, and other regulatory reporting requirements. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities as needed. Partner with operations, supply chain, sales, and other functional departments to improve financial processes and reporting. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, system enhancements, and process improvements. Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility. Prior experience as a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, or Assistant Controller, or an individual ready to step into an Assistant Controller role. Experience working within a consumer products, wholesale distribution, retail, or e-commerce company strongly preferred. Experience working in an organization utilizing an Asset-Based Lending (ABL) facility is highly desirable. Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls. Demonstrated experience preparing financial statements and supporting external audits. Systems & Technical Skills Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) is required. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, Power Query, XLOOKUP, and complex formulas. Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools is a plus. Experience with inventory accounting and ERP systems in a distribution or consumer products environment. Personal Attributes High level of integrity and professionalism.
