Underwriter, Middle Market

Underwriter Position Sompo has a unique opportunity for an Underwriter on our Middle Market team. Our Middle Market Underwriting team offers diverse multi-line capabilities targeted at select industry verticals such as real estate, hospitality, financial institutions, professional services, technology, and manufacturing. Location: This position will be based out of our Irvine, CA, Los Angeles, CA or San Francisco, CA office. Our business, your impact, our opportunity: What you'll be doing: Evaluate Underwriting Risks: Drive submission activity and determine risk acceptability using company guidelines. Demonstrate Technical Expertise: Apply deep product knowledge across multiple Middle Market P&C insurance lines. Execute Strategic Pricing: Price risks accurately using sophisticated financial models and diverse structures. Maintain Underwriting Discipline: Use specialized tools to ensure thorough account reviews and complete documentation. Analyze Market Trends: Monitor state regulations, territory issues, and underwriting data to drive results. Cultivate Broker Relationships: Build strong connections through active marketing, client meetings, and regional travel. What you’ll bring: Minimum 1-2 years of underwriting experience. Experience producing and underwriting accounts of all sizes with major brokerage houses, agents, and specialty retailers. Team player with grit, and collaborative by nature Bachelor's Degree preferred. Salary Range: $65,000 - $125,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
