BartenderThe Bartender takes orders, prepares, and serves alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages, and light meals to guests, in a courteous and efficient manner, according to hotel specifications. Maintains stock/supplies and cleanliness of outlet and equipment.Essential Job FunctionsMonitors and maintains cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.Maintains complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic selections available in the assigned outlet.Maintains knowledge of the particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list.Maintains complete knowledge of and strictly adhere to state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons, and drunk driving.Follows all liquor control measures including drink portion controls and the bottle requisition policy of the property.Maintains complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation, menus, price range, and dress code of assigned outlet.Obtains assigned bank and ensures the accuracy of contracted monies; keeps the bank secure at all times.Completes opening side duties.Inspects cleanliness and condition of bar, guest, and service areas; rectifies any deficiencies.Greets guests and takes their orders (food and beverage), utilizing suggestive/up-selling techniques.Inputs orders into the system and ensures transmission of food orders is verified by Kitchen.Legibly documents orders when the system is down and distributes food orders to Kitchen.Ensures all drink orders from Servers are accurately rung into the POS system before giving drinks to them.Prepares all drink orders for guests according to outlet recipes.Serves drinks to guests.Retrieves food orders from Kitchen and serves to guests.Opens and serves wine/champagne bottles.Prepares and serves cappuccino and espresso.Answers outlet telephone within designated rings, using correct greeting and telephone etiquette.Monitors and maintains cleanliness, sanitation and organization of bar top, tables, service area, and outlet itself.Removes soiled wares from the bar tap and tables to the dishwashing area.Presents guest checks and processes payments; adheres to all cash handling and credit card policies and procedures.Extends courteous salutations when guests leave the outlet and invites them to return.Closes all guest checks in in the POS System immediately upon payment.Cleans and resets bar top and tables immediately after guests depart.Cleans glassware in glass machine/three compartment sink.Directs and assists Bar Backs and Cocktail Servers in their job functions to ensure smooth and efficient service to guests.Completes all closing reports in the POS system.Counts bank at end of shift; completes cashier reports and drop receipts; secures bank.Attendance is a key component of this position.Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with Company standards; wears the appropriate uniform or attire.Maintains open and effective communication with team members and management.Attends and participates in team meetings.Adheres to established safety and emergency procedures and protocols, this includes Company, federal, and state specific regulations and guidelines.Completes all required Company training/compliance courses as assigned.Adheres to Company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent; must be 21 years of age or older.ExperienceA minimum one (1) year of experience as a Bartender or bar back in the food and beverage field required.No supervisory experience required.Licenses & CertificationsFood Handler's Card - must be state/county-specific.Alcohol Awareness Training Certification - must be state/county-specific.Skills & AbilitiesThis position requires the capability to understand and follow both oral and written directions, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with others in English and interact successfully with internal and external customers.Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, requirements, and use of equipment in the Bar.Knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits, and familiarity with standard drink recipes.Able to maintain a positive and professional working environment.Fosters a culture of excellence.Attention to detail.Analytical and problem-solving skills.Able to maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.Basic knowledge of Google Docs/Microsoft Word.Basic knowledge of Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel.Basic math skills.Performs well with frequent interruptions and/or distractions.Able to communicate appropriately and effectively with all levels of management and external stakeholders.Ability to effectively listen, understand, and resolve challenges and concerns from management, team members, and guests.Knowledge of key industry trends, regulations, and the current industry landscape.Ability to adjust effectively to evolving work environments and shifting customer (internal/external) requirements.Able to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment and support diversity and inclusion within the organization.Travel RequirementsNo travel required.
