Job Summary:
Under general direction, ensures sterile technique, maintains asepsis, and assists the surgeon as needed. Actively participates in patient care and safety, conserves OR supplies, and collaborates as a team member of the OR staff.

Responsibilities:
- Follow Infection Control policies and demonstrate expertise in surgical scrub technique.
- Adhere to sterile technique principles preoperatively and intra-operatively.
- Assist the surgeon with gowning, gloving, draping, and passing instruments.
- Anticipate surgeon needs for instruments, sutures, and equipment.
- Maintain an organized operative field and accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments.
- Prepare for cases by assembling supplies and equipment per preference cards.
- Care for instruments and supplies post-procedure.
- Ensure a safe surgical environment and identify potential hazards.
- Utilize experienced OR staff as a resource and mentor new personnel.
- Assist in suturing, retracting, and suctioning under surgeon direction.
- Handle and identify specimens per policy.
- Expedite OR turnover between cases.
- Take rotating call duty.
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested.

Required Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Experience:
- Previous Operating Room or Surgical Technologist experience.

Required Certifications:
- NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
- BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
