Actuary

Job Title: Actuary Department: Finance Location: On-site in Glen Allen, VA Position Overview We are now seeking an Actuary to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in the expansion of the company's actuarial department. The Actuary will report directly to the Chief Actuarial Officer and contribute to a range of business decisions based on actuarial analysis and forecasting to maximize profit and growth. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of P&C actuarial experience and be in pursuit of or hold the ACAS designation. Responsibilities Ongoing product line analyses of rates and results. Pricing and reserving for product lines. Rate change monitoring. Programming to automate actuarial and data-related tasks. Data-sharing with executive team and staff underwriters. Work cross-functionally to aid in the development of internal tools and products. Respond to ad hoc requests from product line and executive leaders. Other actuarial work as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, data science, statistics, finance, or related subjects. 3+ years of relevant actuarial experience. ACAS designation or close to obtaining ACAS. Programming experience with SQL is required; additional experience with Python or R is preferred. Property & casualty experience required. Excess & surplus lines experience is preferred. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Excellent analytical ability. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
