Visual Communications DesignerASA's mission is to maintain and enhance the quality, diversity, cost, and value of food in the campus dining programs, improving fiscally prudent and affordable food plans for students while ensuring the availability of desired and appropriate merchandise, products, and services for the campus community; fostering and supporting the campus' core mission of academics, research, scholarship and intellectual creativity, inclusivity, and sustainability.The Visual Communications Designer develops and produces creative marketing and promotional materials across print and digital platforms, ensuring alignment with brand standards. This role creates graphics for signage, social media, and campaigns; supports photography and multimedia efforts; and collaborates with vendors to deliver high-quality materials on time. The position requires strong design expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.Required Qualifications:Associate's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Marketing or related fieldMinimum of 5 years related work experience in graphic communications designDemonstrated portfolio showcasing design experienceProven ability to adapt a single design across multiple applications for both print and digital mediaAdvanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and IllustratorProficiency in Microsoft Office and Google applicationsExperience using DSLR or mirrorless camerasStrong digital photography and photo editing skillsExperience preparing print materials and collateral for production and finishingExcellent interpersonal, written, verbal and visual communication skills with a strong understanding of marketing principlesDetail-oriented with excellent organizational and proofreading abilitiesAbility to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively in a deadline-driven environmentKnowledgeable in designing graphics for social media platforms and digital channelsCreative mindset with a strong artistic foundationUnderstanding of usage rights and creative licensing requirementsPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or related field with relevant experience in marketing, advertising or public relationsExperience working across both PC and Mac platformsExperience coordinating with vendorsBackground in a marketing, graphic design, or communications roleProduct photography, e-commerce marketing and/or video production and editing experienceDuties/Responsibilities:Design signage and marketing materials, and promotional assets for print and digital use.Work independently to plan, prioritize, and execute design projects from concept through completion.Create graphics for email campaigns, social media, and other digital marketing channels.Coordinate with vendors to ensure timelines and specifications are met for printed and promotional materials.Support photography and video projects, including filming and editing.Capture photos of people, campus locations, and special events.Ensure all work aligns with ASA and Stony Brook University brand guidelines.Perform additional duties as assigned.ASA is an employer and educator recognized for valuing AA/EEO and Protected Veterans and Individuals with Disabilities.No relocation or VISA Sponsorship is available.ASA may make reasonable accommodations to enable applicants to participate in the hiring process and employees to perform their essential functions.
