Role Description The Senior Legal Counsel – Franchising is a full-time remote role responsible for leading and managing legal matters related to franchise structuring, documentation, and compliance. This role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating franchise agreements, disclosure documents, and ancillary contracts, as well as advising clients on regulatory requirements and risk mitigation. The counsel will provide strategic legal advice on franchise expansion, terminations, renewals, and dispute resolution, while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to support business objectives. Daily tasks include legal research, preparing opinions and memoranda, managing transaction timelines, and ensuring that client communications and documentation are accurate, clear, and timely. The role also includes mentoring junior team members, contributing to internal best practices, and supporting client development initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Law with experience in franchise, corporate, and commercial matters.

• Proficiency in Contract Negotiation, including franchise agreements, disclosure documents, and related commercial contracts.

• Skill in Legal Document Preparation, including drafting, reviewing, and revising complex transactional and franchising documents.
\n
• Ability to analyze and address Legal Issues related to franchising, regulatory compliance, and business risk.
\n
• Experience providing clear, practical Legal Advice to business stakeholders and clients.
\n
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in CA, NY, FL, or DE.
\n
• Several years of post-qualification experience in franchising, corporate, or transactional law, preferably in a law firm or in-house environment.
\n
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and drafting precision.
\n
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple matters, and meet deadlines.
\n
• Strong business judgment, client-service mindset, and collaborative working style.
