Warehouse Clerk – Job Description 

Position Overview 

The Warehouse Clerk supports daily warehouse operations by receiving, storing, organizing, and distributing materials, supplies, or products. This role ensures accurate inventory records, efficient handling of goods, and smooth workflow across the warehouse. The ideal candidate is detail‐oriented, organized, and reliable, with strong communication and time‐management skills. 

Key Responsibilities 

Receiving & Inspection 

• Receive and unload incoming shipments. 
• Verify accuracy of deliveries against packing slips or purchase orders. 
• Inspect goods for damage and report discrepancies to supervisors. 
• Label and document all received items accurately. 

Stocking & Inventory 

• Organize and store products in designated warehouse locations. 
• Maintain accurate inventory records using warehouse management software. 
• Assist with cycle counts and full physical inventories. 
• Monitor stock levels and report shortages or issues. 

Order Picking & Fulfillment 

• Pick and prepare orders according to pick lists or work orders. 
• Pack and stage materials for shipment or internal use. 
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of all outgoing orders. 

Shipping & Documentation 

• Prepare shipping labels, manifests, and related documentation. 
• Coordinate with carriers or delivery teams for outbound shipments. 
• Maintain records of all incoming and outgoing materials. 

Warehouse Organization & Safety 

• Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and safe. 
• Follow all safety protocols, including PPE and equipment guidelines. 
• Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, or hand trucks (if certified). 

Skills & Qualifications 

Required 

• High school diploma or GED. 
• Experience in warehouse, distribution, or stockroom operations. 
• Basic computer skills (inventory systems, scanners, email). 
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy. 
• Ability to lift between 25–50 lbs and stand for extended periods. 
• Good communication and teamwork skills. 

Preferred 

• Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) or ERP. 
• Forklift certification. 
• Knowledge of shipping/receiving processes and logistics. 

Work Environment 

• Warehouse setting with frequent standing, walking, lifting, and equipment use. 
• May involve exposure to varying temperatures depending on facility type.
