Cost Accountant
Mount Sterling, KY | Contract to Hire | 7:30am-4:30pm M-F

As a Cost Accountant you’ll be responsible for overseeing, analyzing, and validating cost expenditures and reduction initiatives within the plant. Review manufacturing process activities, record and validate data while making recommendations about cost-efficient and financially feasible cost options.

Key Responsibilities:
•Analyze manufacturing activities and document/validate changes in process to determine what effect it has on the cost
•Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
•Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect product profitability
•Work with CI/process teams to drive continuous improvement
•Analyze and recommend cost and cost savings
•Monitor the inventory cycle count adjustments
•Prepare and complete internal cost audits according to GAAP
•Maintain accuracy in the (SAP/ERP) system
•Cost savings from improvement initiatives
•Speed and accuracy of plant profitability drivers
•Accuracy in cycle count adjustments
•Plant performance leading indicators
•Accuracy in program profitability (Burden model)

Education and Qualifications:
•Bachelor degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
•2+ years of cost accounting work experience (essential)
•Strong experience with month-end close
•Knowledgeable on statistics
• MS Office Suite and SAP
•Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills
•Meticulous attention to detail with strong organizational skills
•Attention to detail while meeting strict deadlines
•Works independently and as part of a team
•Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes
•Excellent report-writing, communication and IT skills
•Good understanding of costing principles and systems
