Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities.
The RN focuses on the prevention of illness and injury and the alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response.
The RN serves as an advocate in the care of individuals and families.
The RN is responsible and accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development.
This is in accordance with state Nurse Practice Acts, policies, Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights.
The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.
The RN assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care for a group of patients.
This involves serving as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse when designated by unit assignment.
The RN considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost, and impact.
The RN educates patients and families in health promotion and disease management using available resources.
The RN utilizes a good working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to policy.
The RN shares responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization.
This includes staffing, time management, supplies, and services.
The RN complies with all nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
The RN actively participates in and supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model.
This includes supporting the Unit Council, participating in improvement initiatives, and contributing to peer review practices.
The RN actively engages in professional development and continuing education.
The RN completes all mandatory education requirements.
The RN integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice.
The RN provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
The RN will follow all organizational values and perform other duties as assigned.
