Teacher 1 (Literacy) – Trumbull Correctional Institution Organization: Rehabilitation & Correction – Trumbull Correctional Institution Work Location: Trumbull Correctional Inst, 5701 Burnett Road, Leavittsburg, OH 44430 Primary Location: United States of America – Ohio – Trumbull County – Leavittsburg Compensation: $26.73 per hour Schedule: Full-time Union: OEA/Scope Classified Indicator: Classified Primary Job Skill: Education Technical Skills: Education Professional Skills: Cultural Awareness, Customer Focus, Developing Others, Emotional Intelligence What You’ll Do Provides instruction in basic education needs (e.g., reading, writing, mathematics) Assesses educational needs of inmates Develops lesson plans to address needs, including individual assignments and training Provides instruction and individual assistance Administers, scores, and interprets examinations and proficiency indicators Maintains discipline and/or security Counsels students concerning performance, behavior, and personal problems Attends meetings as required Prepares required records and reports (e.g., enrollment, grades, student progress) Inventories and orders supplies and materials needed Researches, selects, and recommends new teaching materials Attends in-service training sessions and workshops for professional development Performs other duties as assigned Benefits At the State of Ohio, we provide a comprehensive benefits package to eligible full-time and part-time employees. Qualifications Current Teacher Certificate appropriate for grade level and area of specialization to be assigned; must also hold a baccalaureate degree or less. Legal & Compliance Pre-Employment Drug Testing: All final applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Testing will also include marijuana.
