Growing third-party administrator of employee benefit funds seeks a hands on Senior Accountant for a fast-paced environment in its Oak Brook office.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who possesses strong attention to detail and a thorough understanding of accounting processes. Success in this position requires a solid foundation in GAAP accounting alongside hands-on experience using Enterprise QuickBooks and Microsoft Office software. Because technology is central to daily operations, high overall computer proficiency is a must.

Beyond technical capabilities, this role demands strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. You must work well with others and feel entirely comfortable conducting periodic face-to-face meetings with clients.

Job responsibilities include ownership of the following:

• Checking and verifying data, working with other departments.
• Investigates and resolves problems
• Full understand, manage and the A/P & A/R process.
• Reconcile Vendor statements to internal records and able to problem solve discrepancies with internal staff and vendors.
• Experience reading investment statements, posting investment activity and reconcile monthly.
• Work in the General Ledger and make general journal entries.
• Closing the books for both month-end and year-end
• Ability to look at financial statements with an analytical eye and account for variance.
• Generating ad hoc reports
• Coordinating and working with outside auditors during year end audits
• Maintaining orderly files for all accounting source documents
• Maintaining government compliance records.
• Understand and maintain 1099’s, 941’s and other government filings and forms.
• Receives, researches, and resolves a variety of routine internal and external inquiries concerning account status, including communicating the resolution of discrepancies to appropriate persons

Ability to meet deadlines and taking ownership is essential to your success in this position.

Ideal candidate would have 5+ years of experience in bookkeeping and accounting, be a fast learner with strong attention to detail, be well organized and able to work with little supervision.​ Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
