Typical Responsibilities of a Surgical Technologist:
• Preparing operating rooms by ensuring that surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are organized and ready for scheduled procedures.
• Working alongside the perioperative registered nurse to provide tailored, age-appropriate care for patients throughout the surgical process.
• Maintaining a sterile environment and following infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and organizational policies to ensure safe surgical outcomes.
• Anticipating the needs of the surgeon regarding instruments and equipment during procedures while adapting to changes in surgical conditions.
• Assisting the surgical team during both routine and complex procedures by handling instruments, supplies, and equipment with precision and care.
• Monitoring the surgical environment to ensure that patients' physiological responses remain stable throughout the perioperative experience.
• Supporting a safe operating room atmosphere by adhering to established risk reduction practices, including fire prevention and safety protocols related to laser and electrosurgical equipment.
• Collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, registered nurses, and other members of the perioperative team to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
• Ensuring accurate preparation, organization, and turnover of surgical equipment to facilitate efficient workflow between procedures.
• Engaging in departmental education, orientation, competency validation, and quality improvement initiatives that promote ongoing clinical excellence.

To qualify for this Surgical Technologist position, you should be passionate about providing safe, high-quality surgical care through technical expertise and teamwork. You must have successfully completed a nationally or regionally accredited Surgical Technology program or possess and maintain a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or another recognized credentialing body. Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is required, along with successful completion of departmental orientation and competency requirements.
