Job Title: Registered Nurse - PCU 12 Hour Nights

Job Description:

The Registered Nurse in the PCU is responsible for delivering patient care to adults with a variety of acute conditions, including CHF, ARF, and other complex diagnoses. The role requires effective communication, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.

Responsibilities:

• Perform cardiac and vasoactive drip titration.
• Conduct cardiac rhythm interpretation and administer blood products.
• Provide effective communication and thorough physical assessments.
• Manage indwelling and straight catheter insertion, insulin drips, and continuous bladder irrigation.
• Participate in precepting and ensure compliance with Pre/Post Pain Scoring audits.

Requirements:

• Completion of a nursing education program and registration with the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
• Minimum of 1-year experience in PCU/Tele nursing. Cardiac and vasoactive drip titration experience preferred.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.

Unit Description
General Information
Beds: 39 - MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU - mixed unit
Minimal Experience:
2 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel experience is most preferred
If they have 1.5 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel, please have CRT send to management team for approval
Will you accept a first-time traveler? No. Minimum one prior travel assignment
Traveler must reside >100 miles outside of facility
Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
Patient Types:
Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma
Diagnoses include: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma - heavy trauma population
Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR - 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers
Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this - given to permanent staff
