Position Overview\n

We are seeking a Senior/Lead Business Analyst to conduct moderate-to-high complexity analysis of automated surveillance systems designed to identify potential trading, market, and regulatory concerns.

\n

This role is responsible for understanding, validating, enhancing, and supporting surveillance patterns across multiple asset classes and regulatory domains. The Business Analyst will serve as a key bridge between business and regulatory requirements and the technical implementation of surveillance logic, ensuring surveillance patterns generate accurate, complete, and defensible results.

\n

The ideal candidate combines strong capital markets knowledge with hands-on technical analysis skills, including SQL, Python, large-scale data analysis, and the ability to understand complex processing logic. This individual will also leverage generative AI tools to accelerate analysis, documentation, code comprehension, and automation while independently validating outputs for accuracy and completeness.

  Translate regulatory and business requirements into clear functional and technical requirements.

  Investigate data discrepancies, exceptions, and unexpected surveillance results to identify root causes.

  Validate surveillance outputs for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with business and regulatory requirements.

  Analyze large-scale financial and trading datasets using SQL and distributed data platforms.

\n
• \n

  Use Python or similar scripting languages for data analysis, automation, and development of analytical tools.

\n
• \n

  Review and interpret complex data-processing pipelines, application logic, and source code.

\n
• \n

  Reverse-engineer existing surveillance logic to develop comprehensive business and technical documentation.

\n
• \n

  Develop Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), process documentation, knowledge materials, and other supporting artifacts.

\n
• \n

  Partner with technical, business, data, and subject-matter experts throughout the development and enhancement lifecycle.

\n
• \n

  Support and/or lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including test planning, validation, issue identification, and documentation.

\n
• \n

  Leverage generative AI and AI-assisted development tools to accelerate analysis, documentation, code comprehension, and workflow automation.

\n
• \n

  Independently validate AI-generated outputs to ensure business, technical, and regulatory accuracy.

\n

Required Qualifications\n

\n
• \n

  Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience in financial technology, market surveillance, capital markets, or financial data analysis.

\n
• \n

  Strong understanding of capital markets and financial transaction data.

\n
• \n

  Proficiency in SQL for large-scale data analysis, including experience working with distributed or high-volume data environments.

\n
• \n

  Proficiency in Python or another scripting/programming language for data analysis, automation, and tool development.

\n
• \n

  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently investigate complex data discrepancies and validate system outputs.

\n
• \n

  Experience reviewing and interpreting complex data-processing pipelines and business logic implemented in source code.

\n
• \n

  Advanced spreadsheet skills for business, data, and operational analysis.

\n
• \n

  Excellent documentation skills with the ability to translate complex technical implementations into clear business-facing requirements and knowledge documentation.

• \n

  Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across business and technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications\n

  Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline; advanced degree is a plus.

  Experience with market surveillance, trade surveillance, compliance technology, or financial regulatory systems.

\n
• \n

  Knowledge of U.S. securities regulations, market structure, and regulatory reporting requirements.

• \n

  Experience analyzing financial market data across asset classes such as equities, ETFs, and options.

\n
• \n

  Experience with data science or advanced analytics involving financial or market data.

\n
• \n

  Experience presenting analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

\n
• \n

  Experience using generative AI tools, large language models, or AI coding assistants for data analysis, code comprehension, documentation, and workflow automation.

• \n

  Experience validating AI-generated outputs in environments where accuracy and traceability are important.

\n
• \n

  Experience reverse-engineering application or surveillance source code to develop business and technical documentation.

\n
• \n

  Familiarity with surveillance architectures involving exception generation, scoring, aggregation, reconciliation, or similar processing patterns.

• \n

  Experience with distributed query engines and big data platforms.

\n
• \n

  Experience with source code management, version control, and release/branch workflows.

\n
• \n

  Experience with project management and documentation platforms, APIs, and UAT processes.

\n
• \n

  Strong interest in U.S. financial markets, market structure, and the evolving regulatory landscape.
