Shipping and Receiving ClerkThe Transportation Clerk supports daily transportation and distribution operations by coordinating outbound shipments, maintaining transportation records, communicating with carriers and drivers, and ensuring accurate documentation. This role plays a key part in ensuring on-time deliveries, inventory accuracy, and efficient movement of goods within the distribution network.ResponsibilitiesSchedule and coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with carriers and transportation providers.Prepare shipping documents, bills of lading (BOLs), manifests, and delivery paperwork.Monitor shipment status and communicate updates to warehouse personnel, drivers, customers, and management.Assist in the warehouse to package goods; forklift operation is a plus.Enter and maintain transportation data in the Warehouse Management System (WMS), Transportation Management System (TMS), and internal databases.Verify shipment information, delivery appointments, and carrier invoices for accuracy.Track and report transportation metrics, including on-time performance and delivery exceptions.Assist with routing, load planning, and carrier scheduling as directed.Resolve transportation issues such as delays, shortages, damaged freight, and delivery discrepancies.Maintain organized transportation records and ensure compliance with company policies and transportation regulations.Support warehouse and logistics teams during peak periods and special projects.Essential Skills1-3 years of experience in transportation, logistics, shipping, receiving, or distribution operations preferred.Experience working in a distribution center, warehouse, or transportation environment is highly desirable.Strong data entry and computer skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.Familiarity with WMS, TMS, ERP, or inventory management systems preferred.Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.High attention to detail and accuracy.Problem-solving skills and ability to manage transportation-related issues.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.Ability to work in both office and warehouse environments as needed.Why Work Here?Join a dynamic team that values efficiency and accuracy in the transportation and distribution network.
