Assistant Production Manager

The Assistant Production Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing daily production operations, labor management, equipment maintenance, quality control, and operational efficiency. This hands‑on position works closely with the Production Manager to ensure production goals, quality standards, labor targets, and delivery timelines are consistently achieved in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. This role requires active involvement on the production floor, including troubleshooting production issues, leading preventative maintenance efforts, and performing in‑house machine and equipment repairs whenever possible to minimize downtime and maintain operational continuity. The Assistant Production Manager will also support process improvements, safety initiatives, and team development while helping drive productivity and operational performance. What Success Looks Like (6–12 Months) Production goals, labor targets, and shipping deadlines are consistently met. Equipment downtime is reduced through proactive maintenance and hands‑on repairs. Production KPIs such as efficiency, productivity, and quality show measurable improvement. Production teams are organized, accountable, and operating efficiently. Lean/5S processes and workflow improvements are actively maintained. Equipment maintenance, spare parts, and operational documentation are well managed and organized.
