Nuclear Medicine Technologist

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist oversees technical procedures, patient care, and workflow in the Nuclear Medicine area to ensure safe and effective patient care. Performs diagnostic studies and assists with therapeutic administrations utilizing radiopharmaceuticals and imaging equipment in accordance with established policies and procedures. Responsible for initial and annual training and competencies. Performs all essential functions of the Nuclear Medicine Technologist. Serves as a technical resource and subject matter expert for staff and management in Nuclear Medicine/PET. Oversees the patient schedule and workflow for maximum efficiency. Coordinates staff coverage during unexpected high exam volumes and minimizes staff during low volumes. Participates in scheduling and timecard edits based on department guidelines. Engages in QA/QC programs to ensure compliance. Directs personnel in maintaining standards set by accrediting bodies and safety guidelines. Schedules department technical equipment service and maintenance. Develops training programs and evaluates the technical skills of staff. Ensures staff completes new employee and annual competencies. Recommends personnel actions for hires, promotions, transfers, and performance evaluations. Submits information for accreditation following department guidelines. Provides timely updates on progress to supervisors. Aids in the annual review and updates of department policies and protocols. Performs on-call duties or variable shifts as assigned. Conducts coaching sessions with staff and documents conversations. Collaborates with technical staff to organize and direct section workflow. Meets productivity levels established by department benchmarking. Assists in other areas during downtimes to maintain overall productivity. Directs personnel in following quality control procedures. Achieves section and departmental quality standards for compliance. Assists with daily issues, including equipment problems and staff assignments.
