Position Information Technology Assistant‑Help Desk (10 Month) – Grade 5, Step¡1, Salary $27.62/hour Location: Prospect High School Date Posted: 6/24/2026 Date Available: August 10, 2026 Closing Date: Internal Until 06/30/2026 General Responsibilities This position involves overseeing and supporting building and district technology systems and hardware; assisting the Technology Services Supervisor in supporting, troubleshooting, maintaining hardware and software inventory, and related tasks. The Technology Assistant’s main responsibility is to provide help desk service to staff and students, including supporting and troubleshooting computer and tablet hardware, desktop and mobile operating systems, registration process, routine maintenance of computer, tablet hardware and software, telephones, and other technology systems. The role may supervise and assist students under the direction of certified staff and perform related support tasks. Qualifications State and NCLB Approved Paraprofessional designation, or ability to obtain it Physical ability to lift/move supplies up to 40 lbs. Capable of working at a workstation for extended periods or moving to various areas of the building Organize and prioritize workflow Proficiency in use of computers, office practices, procedures and office equipment Positive image of the district to students, staff, parents and business; positive employee attitude Appropriate interpersonal skills; communicate clearly and respectfully with students, staff, parents, visitors, and the public Awareness of a variety of student needs, including physical and social-emotional needs Access all electrical/computer connections Mechanical/technical aptitude, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; perform software upgrades and maintenance Position Expectations Supports overall technical operations of school and district, including hardware/software infrastructure; installs and upgrades equipment and software; maintains help desk; performs equipment maintenance; assists students and staff with hardware and software; prepares and distributes technology hardware; troubleshoots; utilizes online help desk; assists in implementation of networking procedures and security protocols; maintains inventories; recognizes system incompatibilities; presents new digital resources; supports district-wide events and communities. Assisting certified staff: providing individualized/group instruction in use of technology hardware and online digital resources; supervising students. Updating knowledge and skills in use of technology. Participates in professional development activities to enhance job performance.
