Help

As a ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-2610-12/13, this position works within an Air National Guard Aviation Wing, Maintenance Group, Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Avionics Element, Avionics Shop, Communications/Navigation/ECM, or Guidance and Control shop. It is an Air National dual status technician position that requires military membership, compatible military skill assignment and classification. The primary purpose of this position is to install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integrated electronic avionics systems where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions. The worker in this career field must demonstrate the ability to perform on- or off-equipment maintenance on one or more complete electronic integrated systems associated with the assigned aircraft and/or maintenance on automatic flight control systems, instrument systems, inertial and radar navigation systems.

1. Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on one or more multi-complex electronic integrated systems. Completes operational checks, inspections, tests, trouble shooting, removal and replacement of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) which are linked with integrated systems and LRUs which are independent or associated with nonintegrated systems. Isolates unusual malfunctions using technical orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, tools, and test equipment including automatic test equipment and Flight Line Test Systems (FLTS). Solves complex problems by analyzing installation, circuitry, and operating characteristics of the systems. Adjusts and aligns system sensors, transmitters, amplifiers, power supplies, display devices, controls, transponders, actuators, servos, computers and other related components. Installs serviceable components into aircraft and performs total systems alignment and harmonization in accordance with existing technical orders and directives. Accomplishes technical order compliances, modification of components/systems and completes thorough system checks for proper operation. Maintains, modifies, calibrates and inspects a wide variety of user test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE). Installs, modifies, overhauls, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, rebuilds, aligns, and calibrates complete electronic avionics multi-systems control. Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of complex aircraft avionics and or ECM systems such as the electronics package in a highly automated aircraft where the integrated flight and Integrated Countermeasures System, electronic multiplex communications bus, Inertial Navigation System, multi-function displays, head-up display, data transfer equipment, Global Positioning System, Situation Awareness Data-Link (SADL), Data Modem, Flight Control System, pitot-static system and related instrumentation, flight director instrumentation, Central Air Data Computer, engine, hydraulic and fuel quantity indicating systems, voice message warning, VHF, UHF, SATCOM Data, intercom, secure voice communications, Identification Friend or Foe (IFF), and Tactical Air Navigation System (TACAN). Evaluates operational characteristics of the integrated systems by observing and analyzing waveforms, voltage, current, power indications, computer registers and printouts. Analyzes the malfunctions encountered through fault codes, determines repair sequence process and performs the repairs.

2. Reviews and analyzes maintenance data; determines if criteria are sufficient to provide adequate test, troubleshooting and repair procedures; devises and recommends tests, procedural changes, or data corrections. Aligns, adjusts, and performs final calibrations on integrated systems to determine successful repairs. Analyzes equipment failure and malfunctions and suggests changes to improve operation. Monitors the operation of complex, interrelated systems, analyzes operating trends, proposes preventative maintenance down time to assure continued operating capability, and recommends components for overhaul or engineering evaluation for disposal. Applies technical data and equipment specifications to determine the impact that equipment modifications or substitutions will have upon integrated multi-system operations and various maintenance alignment procedures. Uses algebraic and trigonometric functions to adapt standard formulas to the specific requirements of the integrated system.

  • To qualify and as a condition of continued employment, must possess a valid state drivers license for the state in which he or she lives or is principally employed, in accordance with Air Force and ANG Vehicle Operations Directives.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain the necessary security clearance for the position.
  • Prior to appointment, an applicant's military medical record must indicate a completed and current medical physical, medical profile, a cleared drug test; and, normal color vision as defined in AFI 48-123, Medical Examinations and Standards.
  • Military Grades Enlisted Members: Minimum Rank A1C/E-3 to Maximum Rank MSgt/E-7. Applicants outside of the ORANG must submit documents showing current (or previously held) military grade such as a Data Brief, vMPF rip, and/or DD214.
  • Compatible Military AFSC Requirement: 2A334, 2A354, 2A374.

  • Applicants outside of the ORANG must submit documents showing award of AFSC such as a tech school certificate, Data Brief, vMPF rip, and/or DD214.
  • As a condition of continued employment, the employee must maintain local network access IAW AFMANs 33-152, User Responsibilities and Guidance for Information Systems and 33-282, Computer Security.
  • As a condition of continued employment, the employee must maintain the positions mandatory AFSC skill level and continue on-the-job proficiency requirements.

Qualifications

Areas of Consideration:

Area 1 - Current permanent and indefinite T32 technicians of the Oregon ANG.

Area 2 - Current permanent and indefinite T5 employees of the Oregon ANG.

Area 3 - Current service members in the Oregon ANG.

Area 4 - Individuals in the active duty US Air Force, Air Force Reserve, or Air National Guard.

GENERAL and SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The following seven basic qualification factors are applicable:

-Skilled in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately

-Ability to communicate clearly and effectively

-Skilled in duties such as, install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes

-Ability to format and write English in reports and presentation formats

-Skilled in presenting formal training presentations and briefings

-Skilled in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting material

-Skilled in training, mentoring, leading, and problem-solving

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:

An applicant must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade.

Experience that prepares the applicant to perform the duties of the position. The applicant s educational-degree study program or specific academic courses may substitute for some specialized experience. An applicant must demonstrate the identified specialized experience competencies (skills, knowledge, abilities and behaviors) to qualify for a FWS 2610 position as identified by its applicable grade.

To Qualify for WG-12 (Flight-Line)

This position is an apprentice or journeyman skill level designed as a developmental opportunity to qualify for merit promotion to the dual status technician PD# D2240P01, Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic, WG-2610-13, craftsman expertise. Must have at least a three-skill level in one of the compatible PAFSCs, with 12 months of work experience or compatible aircraft maintenance/armament/munitions craftsman (or seven skill level), and required ASVAB scores required by FWS 2610 PAFSC and be able to successfully complete formal training that will result in the award of a compatible Five Skill Level AFSC. NOTE: To credit work experiences gained from completing the compatible PAFSC technical training school program, the applicant must submit technical school certificate(s) and student evaluation(s) to support/verify AFSC work experiences and skills performed while attending the applicable Air Force technical school(s).

Experiences involved installing, modifying, overhauling, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, aligning, calibrating, and rebuilding multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integrated electronic avionics systems where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions.

To Qualify for WG-13 (Flight-Line)

The applicant must have at least 12 months of specialized experiences working as an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic, WG-2610-12, and must possess the craftsman level (7-Level) of knowledge and skills to install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integrated electronic avionics systems where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions. Experiences included the ability and skills to perform on-or off-equipment maintenance on one or more complete electronic integrated systems associated with the assigned aircraft and/or maintenance on systems such as, automatic flight control systems, instrument systems, inertial and radar navigation systems. Experienced in performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on one or more multi-complex electronic integrated systems. Experiences included completing operational checks, inspections, tests, trouble shooting, removal and replacement of line-replaceable-units which are linked with integrated systems and line-replaceable-units which are independent or associated with nonintegrated systems. Must have skilled capabilities of isolating unusual malfunctions using technical orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, tools, and test equipment including automatic test equipment and flight line test systems. Skilled in solving complex problems by analyzing installation, circuitry, and operating characteristics of the systems. Experiences involved adjusting and aligning system sensors, transmitters, amplifiers, power supplies, display devices, controls, transponders, actuators, servos, computers and other related components. Skilled in the installation of serviceable components into aircraft and performed total systems alignment and harmonization in accordance with existing technical orders and directives. Experienced and skilled in completing technical order compliances, completing component and system modifications, and performing thorough system checks for correct operations. Skilled in maintaining, modifying, calibrating, and inspecting a wide variety of user test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment. Experienced in performing installations, modifications, overhauling, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, rebuilding, aligning, and calibrating complete electronic avionics multi-system controls. Must have a thorough working knowledge of complex aircraft avionics or electronic circuit maintenance systems such as, the electronics package in highly automated aircraft where the integrated flight and integrated countermeasures system, electronic multiplex communications bus, inertial navigation system, multi-function displays, head-up display, data transfer equipment, global positioning system, situation awareness data-link, data modem, flight control system, pivot-static system and related instrumentation, flight director instrumentation, central air data computer, engine, hydraulic and fuel quantity indicating systems, voice message warning, various modes of data, intercom, secure voice communications, identification friend or foe, and tactical air navigation system. Experienced in evaluating operational characteristics of the integrated systems by observing and analyzing waveforms, voltage, current, power indications, computer registers and printouts. Skilled in analyzing the malfunctions encountered through fault codes, determining repair sequence process and performing required repairs. Experiences involved reviewing and analyzing maintenance data; determines if criteria are sufficient to provide adequate test, troubleshooting and repair procedures; devises and recommends tests, procedural changes, or data corrections. Skilled in performing alignments, adjustments, and conducting final calibrations on integrated systems to determine successful repairs. Experienced in monitoring the operations of complex, inter-related systems, analyzing operating trends, and proposing preventative maintenance down time. Skilled in the applications of technical data and equipment specifications that determine the impact equipment modifications or substitutions on integrated multi-system operations and various maintenance alignment procedures. Competent in using algebraic and trigonometric functions to adapt standard formulas to the specific requirements of the integrated system. Experiences involved the installation, operation, and repair work on prototypes or experimental electronic systems such as, inertial navigation or automatic flight control. Competent in advising aerospace engineering personnel on the operation and maintenance effects of proposed time compliance technical orders modifications on new or existing equipment.

Education

To qualify for WG-2610-12: Completion of an Air Force Three Skill Level Technical Training School (for one of the compatible AFSCs) and successful On-the-Job training that will result or resulted in the award of a compatible Five Skill Level in AFSC.

To qualify for WG-2610-13: Completion of Air Force Seven Skill Level Training and award of a compatible Seven Skill Level PAFSC, along with the successful completion of at least one military professional education (PME) course program.

Applicants MUST submit technical training certificates and/or vMPF rip to show completion of 3-level/7-level school and PME.
