Police Officer The City of Plymouth is looking for motivated professionals to uphold state and local laws, provide timely response and appropriate public safety services at all times, and maintain effective relations with the public. Essential Functions Maintain effective relations with the public and initiate community engagement activities. Respond to a wide variety of service calls requiring initiative, judgment, and appropriate use of force. Provide emergency service to protect life and property, including rescuing victims, providing first aid, and managing crowds at demonstrations. Investigate suspicious circumstances by gathering evidence, documenting information, and conducting preliminary crime/accident investigations. Perform arrests, process arrested persons, and assist in follow‑up investigations. Identify and address physical and safety hazards that affect community well‑being. Enforce traffic laws, write citations, and participate in traffic pursuits. Conduct routine patrol activities, including route planning, foot patrols, and interaction with residents. Perform administrative and non‑patrol activities such as CAD entry, delivering materials, and court appearances. Qualifications Demonstrated ability to perform in accordance with the City of Plymouth’s CIVIC values and support the city council’s strategic priorities. Eligible for licensure under the Minnesota Board of Peace Officers Standards and Training by the start date. Effective written and oral communication skills. Valid Minnesota Driver’s License with no recent significant traffic violations. Pass a thorough background investigation. Pass physical and psychological examinations required for the position. Desired Qualifications Experience working with diverse populations. Physical Requirements Very frequent activities such as standing, sitting, walking, lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying, kneeling, crawling, crouching, reaching, and repetitive hand motion. Frequent activities include climbing and overhead work. Must lift or carry items up to 100 pounds from 0 to 5 feet and up to 100 pounds from 0 to 100 feet. Job Requirements Working outdoors. Working indoors. Working near fumes or vapors. Driving city vehicle or personal vehicle.
