Pharmacy Customer Service Specialist

Position Summary The Pharmacy Cashier is responsible for providing excellent customer service at the point of sale, ensuring accurate transactions, and supporting the pharmacy team in maintaining a smooth workflow. This role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment. Duties & Responsibilities Greet customers promptly and courteously. Answer customer’s general questions and direct clinical or medication‑related questions to a pharmacist. Assist patients picking up prescriptions by verifying identifying information. Handle cash, credit, and electronic payments while ensuring proper change and receipts. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Help manage customers waiting queues and ensure communication with pharmacy staff of customers waiting. Coordinate with pharmacy staff to resolve billing, pricing or prescription issues. Keep the checkout area clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies; notify management when reorder is necessary Reconcile cash drawers at end of day. Follow all company policies and procedures, including safety and security protocols. Other duties as assigned by the pharmacy management. Education And/or Experience High school diploma or equivalent required Previous cashier or retail experience preferred; pharmacy or healthcare experience is a preferred. Basic math and computer skills required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. Ability to handle confidential information responsibly required. Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Work or lived experience may substitute for education requirements on a case‑by‑case basis Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Possess superior organizational and administrative skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Ability to work independently and achieve high standards of productivity, achieving deadlines and with superior product results. Strong calendaring, organizational, and document management skills required. Proactive approach to solving problems and communicating to leadership. Knowledge of office management systems, procedures, and office equipment required. Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work.
