Department: University Counseling Services Faculty Hire Number: #26-29 Rank: SSP AR II, 12-Month Effective Date of Appointment: July 1, 2026 (Subject to Budgetary Approval) Salary Scale: $93,960 to $120,000 (Dependent upon qualifications) Position The Department of University Counseling Services (UCS) at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking a licensed psychologist to serve as Staff Psychologist in the Student Services Professional, Academic-Related II level. The position is a 12‑month, tenure‑track appointment. Responsibilities The successful candidate will provide clinical and outreach services to a diverse population of university students and serve as the Coordinator of the Psychiatry Residency Rotation at UCS. Key responsibilities include: Conducting clinical assessment, short‑term individual and couples counseling, group psychotherapy, and psycho‑educational groups. Providing triage/urgent care services and clinical case management. Implementing general outreach programs and interventions to the campus community. Consulting with faculty, staff, and campus constituencies on students with mental health concerns. Coordinating orientation, training, and scheduling for incoming psychiatry residents; maintaining communication with the residency program director and supervisors. Serving on the supervision team with residents, providing support and feedback on resident performance. Assisting with paperwork related to institutional contracts and ACGME residency program guidelines. Participating in the APA‑accredited doctoral training program, including supervision and training responsibilities. Attending UCS staff meetings, case conferences, professional development activities, and retreats. Maintaining ethical documentation of clinical work and ensuring timely electronic medical record entry. Performing other duties as assigned. Providing telemental health services and/or remote work as required. Required Qualifications Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA‑accredited institution. Licensure in the State of California as a psychologist. If licensed in another state, must obtain licensure in California within one year. Demonstrated generalist clinical therapeutic and diagnostic skills, including clinical assessment, brief focused counseling, group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and case management. Experience providing professional consultation and outreach programs on a variety of topics relevant to diverse college students. Experience serving as a clinical supervisor. Commitment to multiculturalism and ability to establish respectful relationships with people from diverse backgrounds. Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary mental health team and contribute to a collegial working environment. Strong written and oral communication skills and effective time‑management ability. Preferred Qualifications Successful completion of an APA‑accredited doctoral internship in health service psychology. Experience working in a university counseling center setting.
