Mechanical Assembler – Key Responsibilities

• Assemble refrigeration cases and sub-assemblies, including tanks, canopies, base frames, hardware kits, plenums, and related components.
• Read and interpret work orders, assembly instructions, and production documents to understand build requirements.
• Identify parts and ensure accurate installation according to specifications and assembly guidelines.
• Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete assemblies.
• Measure and verify dimensions using rulers, tape measures, metal squares, and other measuring devices.
• Install and secure components using bolts, screws, rivets, speed clips, and other fastening hardware.
• Apply material gauging and dimensional requirements to ensure proper fit, function, and quality.
• Rotate between workstations as needed to support production demands.
• Work collaboratively with assembly team members to complete products on schedule.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Adhere to all safety, quality, and manufacturing standards.
• Support general production and labor activities to achieve daily output targets.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude in a manufacturing, production, or assembly environment.
• Ability to read and understand work orders, assembly instructions, blueprints, and diagrams.
• Experience using hand tools and power tools in a production setting.
• Ability to accurately read measurements and use measuring instruments.
• Experience with mechanical assembly and component fastening methods.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work a consistent first-shift schedule.

• Previous assembly line experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Experience assembling mechanical or electrical products.
• General labor experience within a production facility.
• Ability to work across multiple stations and adapt to changing production priorities.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
• Commitment to workplace safety, quality, and productivity standards.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Ability to push and pull refrigeration cases weighing approximately 200-800 lbs.
• Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Frequent walking, reaching, bending, twisting, and lifting.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and awkward positions when required.
• Occasional stooping, kneeling, and sitting during assembly activities.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Colonial Heights, VA.

The pay range for this position is $16.50 - $16.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
