Our Morristown, NJ office is seeking a motivated Assistant Bridge Engineer to join our team working on diverse public and private infrastructure projects for State and County agencies.NV5's New Jersey office is seeking a motivated Project Engineer (Bridges) to join our team working on diverse public and private infrastructure projects.ResponsibilitiesNV5's New Jersey office is seeking a motivated Project Engineer (Bridges) to join our team working on diverse public and private infrastructure projects.Lead and mentor junior staff (1+ engineers) on technical design and project tasksLead the planning, administration, and design of structural bridge projects, ensuring compliance with state and federal standards.Conduct detailed structural analysis and design for various bridge projects.Develop and review engineering calculations for reinforced and prestressed concrete, steel structures, and other materials.Prepare comprehensive engineering reports, plans, specifications, and estimates.Utilize engineering software packages such as STAAD, PennDOT ABLRFD, L-Pile, and MathCAD for project delivery.Ensure timely delivery of PS&E contract documents, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams across various geographic locations.Conduct quality control and assurance activities to maintain high standards in project execution.Develop quantities and cost estimates, ensuring projects stay within budget.Utilize CADD to develop detailed bridge plans and specifications.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, code requirements, and client objectives.Conduct/lead field work oversight, including surveys, data collection, construction observation, and support (RFIs, submittals, change orders)QualificationsB.S. in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (M.S. a plus)EIT requiredPE license preferred (but not required) or ability to obtain within 1 year after starting4–8 years of experience as a bridge engineer, including design, plan preparation, structural analysis, design, quantity calculation, and construction support services.Proficiency with AASHTO LRFD, MicroStation (ORD a plus)/InRoads, and structural design software (LARS, STAAD, LEAP, etc.)Experience with NJDOT, NJTA, and PANYNJ projectsStrong communication, organizational, and team leadership skillsAbility to work in team settingAbility to independently and accurately complete engineering calculations for reinforced and prestressed concrete and steel structures; familiarity with timber and masonry design is a plus.Proficiency with Microsoft Office software applications (including MS Project).Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver's license prior to employmentNV5 offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including medical, dental, life insurance, PTO, 401(k) and professional development/advancement opportunities.The pay range for this position in New Jersey is $95,000–$115,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
