Events and Kitchen Coordinator Food and Events Services Assistant Compensation : $15 to $19 hourly; 401k with 4% employer match Summary of Position This role equips our church to welcome and serve guests at internal events and during outside rentals. By assisting the director of events and leading volunteer teams, anticipating and planning logistics, food service and staffing needs, this role demonstrates the heart of hospitality at Christ Church. Supports the Director of Food Services with administrative tasks such as ordering, billing, volunteer management, and co-leading or leading during events to enable the Director to focus on strategic, organizational tasks and collaborative planning and problem solving. Essential Functions Collaborate with Director of Food & Event Services to plan for F&E Services needs for all upcoming events, from Staff Breaks to large outside rentals; lead and execute F&E services during events. Assist Director of Events and Special Projects with accounting, ordering, inventory management, and other administrative tasks. Demonstrate a heart for hospitality for guests and participants in Christ Church events and outside rentals. Assist in planning and preparing menus and welcoming spaces for gatherings from 15-500 attendees. Other Key Responsibilities Participate in Christ Church staff life by attending all-staff meetings, church-sponsored events, worship, training events, and contributing to a culture of collaboration. Support church-wide initiatives and special events by serving in flexible roles beyond primary ministry responsibilities. Engage in ongoing personal and professional development through training, reading, coaching, or mentoring to grow as a leader and servant of Christ. Collaborate across ministries to ensure alignment, share resources, and strengthen unity on staff teams. Demonstrate and model Christ Church’s core values in daily work, relationships, and service to others. Maintain flexibility by assisting with projects outside the immediate scope of the role when needed. Contribute to a culture of grace, care, and prayer by supporting, encouraging, and praying with staff, volunteers, and congregants as appropriate. Program/Event Coordination and Logistical Support This function encompasses comprehensive planning and execution of departmental and organizational events, ensuring they run smoothly and align with institutional goals. Activities include managing event logistics, coordinating resources, and ensuring collaboration across departments. Information and Records Management Maintain accurate, organized, and accessible data systems. Input, update, and manage records and files (e.g., volunteer information, attendance data, contact lists) to ensure data integrity and compliance with procedures. Communication and Scheduling Management Facilitate effective information flow and organizational efficiency, including managing official calendars to prevent scheduling conflicts, prioritizing appointments, handling correspondence, and acting as primary liaison on behalf of the supervisor or director. Note: All above are part of the role, but limited due to minimal hours. Required Qualifications Education: High School diploma Preferred Qualifications 1-3 years in restaurant, catering, or service industry with experience in large events. Supports a culture of grace, care, and prayer among staff and volunteers. Physical Demands & Work Environment Kitchen and food prep duties may involve lifting objects (boxes, pots, etc.). Knowledge and certification in food safety. Ability to stand and move for long periods during events and assist with kitchen cleanup and inventory. Work in both office and kitchen settings; requires own transportation for shopping and food pickup. Working knowledge of kitchen equipment. Core Competencies Proficiency with software systems such as Concur, Microsoft Office, eSpace, Touchpoint, and vendor ordering platforms. Food handler’s certification. Communicate, organize, and delegate volunteer roles. Collaborate with director and team on event logistics planning and execution.
