THIS POSITION IS ASSIGNED TO PARKS OPERATIONSJOB SUMMARYThe Maintenance Technician I performs labor intensive tasks while performing routine general and preventative maintenance to grounds, equipment, facilities and infrastructure on a daily basis. This position requires a good understanding of basic facility repairs, electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems. This position may complete tasks within close proximity to the general public and must be capable of providing a safe work zone. This position is expected to maintain the highest level of customer service while engaging with contractors, the general public and other city departments. QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent with one year of minimum experience.Special Requirements:Possession of a valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or higher. First Aid, CPR and AED certification or ability to obtain within six months.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of principles and practices of parks and recreation facilities maintenance and repair or related services.Knowledge of principles and practices of safe work habits.Skill in operating a variety of tools, equipment, vehicles and trailers.Skill in analyzing problems and developing effective solutions.Ability to work independently or cohesively as part of a team.Ability to understand and follow the City of Conroe/Departmental policies and procedures.Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe work is heavy and requires the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
