Job Description

This role operates as a key distribution link, safely transporting construction building materials to a variety of customer locations using a dedicated Class A CDL day cab truck with a 45-foot curtain-side trailer. The driver completes multiple daily stops across regional routes while returning home early each day.

Responsibilities

• Transport construction building materials such as siding, decking, roofing, and shingles to retail and lumber yard customers, including large home improvement stores and independently owned lumber yards.
• Operate a Class A CDL day cab truck with a 45-foot curtain-side trailer, ensuring safe and efficient loading, securing, and unloading of materials at each stop.
• Complete approximately 10–15 stops per day across regional routes, including travel to Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana, without dedicated or fixed routes.
• Perform thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
• Maintain strict adherence to DOT compliance requirements, including hours-of-service regulations, vehicle operation rules, and documentation.
• Keep a clean and accurate driving log and all required delivery paperwork, ensuring timely and precise record-keeping.
• Communicate professionally with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers to coordinate deliveries, resolve issues, and ensure high-quality service.
• Handle and maneuver curtain-side trailers by rolling up and securing flaps for loading and unloading, ensuring materials are protected during transit.
• Operate the vehicle in a safe, courteous manner at all times, maintaining a clean driving record and following all traffic laws and company policies.
• Manage time effectively to complete daily routes within scheduled hours, typically working 8–10 hours per day, Monday through Friday.
• Care for and maintain an assigned truck, reporting any maintenance needs promptly and keeping the vehicle clean and organized.

Essential Skills

• Valid Class A CDL license.
• Proven truck driving experience with Class A vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of DOT compliance requirements and regulations.
• Clean driving record with a history of safe and responsible driving.
• Ability to operate and maneuver 45-foot curtain-side trailers safely in a variety of environments.
• Capability to perform multiple stops per day and manage regional routes efficiently.
• Competence in conducting vehicle inspections and completing required logs and documentation.
• Reliability to work 1st shift, Monday through Friday, starting at 6:00 a.m. and working 8–10 hours per day.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience hauling construction materials such as siding, decking, roofing, and shingles.
• Familiarity with deliveries to retail home improvement stores and lumber yards.
• Comfort with non-dedicated routes and regional driving across multiple states.
• Strong communication and customer service skills when interacting with dispatch and customers.
• Attention to detail in load securement and safety practices.
• Ability to work 40–50 hours per week on a consistent schedule.

Work Environment

This position operates in a regional driving environment using a dedicated Class A CDL day cab truck paired with a 45-foot curtain-side trailer. Drivers have their own assigned truck and do not share vehicles, allowing consistent familiarity with equipment. The schedule is 1st shift, Monday through Friday, typically from 6:00 a.m. to approximately 3:00 p.m., with 8–10 hours of work per day and a total of 40–50 hours per week . Routes involve multiple daily stops, often 10–15, and cover regional territories including Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana, with no dedicated or fixed routes. The work centers on transporting and handling construction building materials, requiring outdoor activity at customer sites in varying weather conditions. The role provides a predictable daytime schedule with home time every day, a professional driving environment, and a strong emphasis on safety, compliance, and equipment care.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $54080.00 - $60320.00/yr.
