Job Details We are seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to lead all accounting and financial operations for a mission-driven organization. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, overseeing day-to-day accounting functions, and providing financial insights that support organizational growth and decision-making. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with a strong background in financial management, compliance, budgeting, and team development. Key Responsibilities Oversee all accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. Prepare, analyze, and present accurate financial statements and management reports. Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans. Monitor cash flow and financial performance to support operational and strategic objectives. Establish, maintain, and strengthen internal controls to safeguard organizational assets. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulations, and organizational policies. Coordinate external audits and serve as the primary contact for auditors. Partner with executive leadership to provide financial analysis, recommendations, and strategic guidance. Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting efficiency, and operational effectiveness. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Several years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership experience as a Controller or in a similar financial management role. Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. Experience developing and maintaining internal controls, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting financial audits. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor teams, prioritize workloads, and drive results. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to translate financial information for non-financial stakeholders. Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills preferred. Experience within healthcare, senior services, nonprofit, or other mission-driven organizations is a plus.
