Insectary Technician

Our client, a leading agricultural biotechnology company, is seeking an Insectary Technician to join their team. As an Insectary Technician, you will be part of the Research & Development department supporting the Insect Facility Team. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a self-motivated attitude which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Insectary Technician (1-year contract)

Location: Johnston, IA

Pay Range: $20–$23/hour

What's the Job?

• Assist with insect and plant-based research experiments in controlled environments
• Collect, record, and manage high-quality data while meeting deadlines
• Perform daily insect colony maintenance including feeding, egg collection, sanitation, and setup
• Support plant care and maintenance in greenhouse, growth chamber, and field settings
• Prepare materials, supplies, and equipment for research activities and maintain a clean, safe workspace

What's Needed?

• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in entomology, agriculture, horticulture, plant science, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow standard operating and safety protocols
• Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills with a proactive mindset
• Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn internal systems
• Ability to stand/sit for extended periods, lift up to 30 lbs, and work in warm, humid environments performing repetitive tasks
