Senior Manager, Make/Buy Strategy & Execution

Senior Manager role within Thermo Fisher Scientific's Contract Manufacturing & Value Assurance team responsible for developing and executing the company's global Make/Buy strategy. The position combines strategic financial analysis with operational expertise to optimize internal manufacturing versus external sourcing decisions.

Responsibilities

• Design, document, and deploy standardized Make/Buy decision-making framework across divisions
• Reconstruct and analyze site P&Ls; rationalize cost elements for accurate financial comparisons
• Develop financial models to identify and evaluate Make/Buy opportunities with TCO and NPV analyses
• Lead cross-functional project teams and partner with Operations leadership on strategy execution
• Track KPIs, conduct post-implementation reviews, and manage stakeholder communication across the organization

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA strongly preferred
• Minimum 8 years in operations strategy, manufacturing finance, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management
• Proven experience leading Make/Buy or network optimization initiatives in large organizations
• Expert knowledge of site-level P&L structures, cost accounting, and financial modeling
• Strong analytical skills and ability to influence across matrixed, global organizations without direct authority
• Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, sourcing strategies, and supply chain cost structures
• Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodology experience preferred
