The role of the Finisher requires individuals to work on construction projects requiring the pouring and finishing of flatwork concrete. The following statements reflect the general details necessary to describe the major functions of this position and are not intended to be a detailed description of all the work/functions that may be required. Other duties may be assigned. Individuals will work a varied schedule based on client needs. Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards. Use all finishing tools (hand and power). Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials. Dismantle forms after use, using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts. Tend to generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment. Install insulating materials (blankets). Mix mortar, grout, slurry, concrete, or related material. Move materials or goods between work areas by hand. Prepare building surfaces for sealants. Prepare site or surfaces for concrete work. Apply sealers and sawcut. Inspect forms for problems or defects. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or GED; or up to one-month related experience in concrete finishing or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of using tape measures and level. Knowledge of industry and equipment. Basic small engine knowledge. Certifications: Obtain and maintain the following within one (1) month of hire. Valid driver's license (Highly Preferred). Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage; and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Physical Demands: Ability to lift/carry 100 pounds or more. Ability to push or pull up to 150 pounds.
