Licensed Practical Nurse | LPN – Women’s Health Job Category: Clinical Support Services Requisition Number: LICEN002135 Posted: December 23, 2025 Full-Time On-site Location Central Headquarters 3801 Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd Kansas City, MO 64130, USA About the Role As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for Swope Health Services, you will work as part of a team of caregivers to provide care for the people who need it most. You will be responsible for taking a health history, performing health counseling, and administering medications and treatments. You will provide nursing care and assist our physicians and providers. You will follow up abnormal lab and imaging results, provide post‑hospitalization support, proactive pre‑visit planning, and patient teaching. You are a critical part of our patient‑centered medical team that provides quality care. Primary Functions Contact patients regarding abnormal labs and imaging results to advise them of results and further care. Transcribe physician/provider orders, collect specimens and cultures for laboratory analysis. Review telephone encounters and address within the LPN scope of practice. Complete forms and documents and obtain physician signatures as appropriate (e.g., diabetic supply form, DME, Home Health Orders). Arrange referrals for specialty, urgent, or emergent care at the provider’s direction. Instruct patients in home self‑care when an immediate clinic evaluation is not necessary. Administer oral and parenteral medications as ordered using the six rights of medication administration. May dispense non‑prescription sample medications kept in the clinic only. Perform waiver testing and venipuncture as ordered by the provider. Document all nursing care and treatments performed in the electronic medical record. Coordinate pre‑visit planning by reviewing the electronic medical record to include patient history and proactively order labs and other testing based on standing orders. Perform hospital follow‑up by reviewing discharge summaries and performing medication reconciliation. Follow up on any referrals. Delegate to medical assistants within scope of practice to enhance patient care. Manage and direct patient flow within the clinical area. Relieve the nurse supervisor and medical assistants as necessary. Order basic clinic supplies and stock medications. Use PC and Microsoft Word; document within an electronic medical record and/or be familiar with Windows‑based programs. Assist in staff training and new employee orientation. Maintain an environment conducive to the care and welfare of patients/clients. Participate in continuing educational offerings scheduled at the facility. Comply with computer security guidelines and confidentiality of patient and staff information. In an emergency, summon EMS, initiate CPR, and take necessary actions to preserve life. Check the oxygen and respiratory area weekly, document oxygen usage on log sheet, and stock the room with appropriate supplies and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned by the clinic manager. Successful Candidates Will Have Graduated from an accredited school of practical nursing. Licensed to practice in Missouri and/or Kansas. Basic Cardiovascular Life Support (BCLS) certification. Excellent communication skills, customer‑service oriented and able to work with staff, visitors, and clients.
