job summary:
The Senior Microsoft 365 Administrator will serve as the primary owner for an enterprise cloud ecosystem, driving the technical design, security, and operational governance required to support a rapidly expanding organization. This role delivers hands-on administration and high-level architectural oversight across unified endpoint management, enterprise identity, cloud security, messaging, and collaboration platforms. Partnering closely with internal IT team members and external managed service providers, this leader will mature the IT control landscape, implement ITIL-aligned processes, and build scalable infrastructure that supports ongoing growth and integrations.

responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary technical owner for an enterprise Microsoft 365 cloud environment encompassing identity, endpoint management, security, messaging, and collaboration tools.
• Design, implement, and maintain scalable cloud architecture aligned with Microsoft best practices and framework standards.
• Establish formal governance standards, baseline configurations, and comprehensive technical documentation.
• Develop and execute a multi-year technical roadmap to support organizational scaling and system integrations.
• Architect and manage enterprise identity and access controls, including Conditional Access, MFA, RBAC, and user lifecycle governance.
• Direct cloud-based endpoint management, including compliance enforcement, automated patching, configuration profiles, and device automation.
• Lead the configuration, tuning, and optimization of cloud security controls and endpoint protection tools.
• Elevate overall security posture by applying Zero Trust principles, strict access controls, and ongoing system hardening.
• Administer and govern enterprise messaging, content management, and collaboration platforms.
• Define policies and standards for external sharing, data retention, data loss prevention (DLP), and information governance.
• Enhance platform stability, performance, and overall end-user productivity across collaboration applications.
• Operate within an ITIL-based change management framework while maintaining audit-ready operational documentation.
• Provide technical direction, guidance, and mentorship to internal IT team members.
• Act as the senior escalation point for complex cloud engineering and platform operational issues.
• Oversee third-party IT and security managed service providers to ensure alignment with performance, service, and security SLAs.
Drive operational maturity and continuous improvement within an evolving enterprise IT environment.

qualifications:
Brings 15+ years of MSP/Enterprise experience.

Deep hands-on expertise in configuring, auditing, and optimizing large-scale Microsoft 365 environments (Entra ID/Azure AD, Exchange, Teams, Security & Compliance) against industry security baselines.

Proven ability to take full ownership of a complex cloud environment, translating high-level business goals into structured execution plans and technical roadmaps.

They need an experienced resource to fully own the environment. While they don't necessarily need a high-level cybersecurity specialist, the candidate must thoroughly understand M365 architecture and enterprise best practices.

Candidate communicates extremely well and says all the right things regarding strategy and execution.
