Monitor Technician - Telemetry

Job Description PeaceHealth is seeking a Monitor Technician – Telemetry for a Per Diem/Relief, 0.00 FTE, Variable position. Salary range is $24.01 – $36.06. Hiring rate depends on education, training, experience, and collective bargaining agreement. This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting. Job Summary Responsible for obtaining and interpreting cardiac physiological monitoring data, documenting changes in arrhythmias, and reporting problems to a registered nurse or physician. Ensure equipment functions properly. Essential Functions Operate the appropriate monitoring device in accordance with physician orders. Expert at using all functions of central monitoring equipment. Observes monitors continually, detecting and documenting any changes in heart rhythm and arrhythmias. Identifies and interprets EKG and relays pertinent information to physician or nurse. Assists physicians in viewing rhythm history. Orients staff to central monitoring capability and the role of Monitor Technician. Perform clerical duties as assigned, including processing admissions, discharges, and transfers. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education High school diploma preferred or equivalent. Preferred: Completion of Nurse Aide, Medical Assistant, or equivalent program. Required: Completion of EKG class and monitoring equipment class within one month of hire. Experience Preferred: Experience in a healthcare setting, preferably within cardiology specialty. Demonstrated knowledge of age‑specific growth and development principles to meet each patient’s needs. Credentials Required: Basic Life Support upon hire. Skills Basic computer skills, including MS Office applications (required). Ability to communicate clearly and concisely (required). Basic knowledge of anatomy/physiology of the heart (required). Physical Demands Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs without assistive equipment. Fine motor skills for handling medical equipment. Push/pull up to 45 lbs force. Hands‑on CPR for at least 20 minutes using 100‑125 lbs of force; frequency seldom or occasionally. Ability to move around the area with frequent sitting. Bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, and kneeling frequently. Lifting non‑patient objects up to 20 lbs occasionally and 5 lbs frequently. Environmental Conditions Exposure to biohazard, body fluids, and airborne particles. Tasks performed in a noisy environment. Mental/Visual Demands Vision and hearing within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted). Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
