Dean of Students Plain Local School District, Middlebranch Elementary - Canton, Ohio Position Title: Middlebranch Elementary School Dean of Student Position Type: Full-Time Responsibilities Assist principal in overall supervision of the middle school. Act as a resource for teachers and staff who express concerns for student attendance, development, and discipline. Resolve student behavior concerns fairly and timely, and maintain records of disciplinary or referral actions taken. Maintain active relationships with parents, families, and students with clear communication and listening skills. Serve as a member of the principal advisory committee regarding school behaviors, routines, and discipline policies. Serve as a resource for building staff, administrators, and parents in working with students, creating a positive school climate, and helping students develop a positive self-concept. Effectively manage conflict within the school building. Investigate student complaints by interviewing students and witnesses in disciplinary investigations. Investigate, adjudicate, and monitor minor infractions of the school code using progressive discipline such as detentions, classroom referrals, and in‑school suspension. Work successfully and positively with all students to provide assistance in meeting their educational needs. Collaborate with building leadership to facilitate and implement intervention steps including PBIS and related processes with staff. Coordinate implementation of parent involvement and school-sponsored events; assist with school‑wide supervision and event planning. May oversee school-wide emergency preparedness team meetings and implementation efforts. Supervise athletics contests, dances, and other student activities throughout the year. Communicate the Plain Local vision and mission to the school community, maintaining a positive climate while holding staff accountable as needed. Perform other tasks and assume responsibilities within the overall scope of the position that the principal may assign.
