Facilities Project Management Specialist – Role As a Facilities Project Management Specialist, you will assist Facilities Project Managers (levels 3, 4, 5) on large projects and, with regular guidance, manage small, renovation, maintenance, repair, and minor capital projects. Your responsibilities include establishing design concepts, project budgets, and schedules through design implementation and coordination of construction; executing and communicating project scope based on assessment of program, budget, building structure, utility infrastructure, and code compliance; managing project reviews for regulatory conformance and organizational policies; recommending modifications to construction and design contracts; and providing status reports and regular communication with key stakeholders. What It Takes to be Successful – Qualifications Knowledge of building and construction, design, construction contract administration, and California Building Codes. Skills to develop project scope and drawings. Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and MS Office. Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including effective negotiation skills. Good organizational and analytical skills. Detail‑oriented with the ability to proof contracts and other documents accurately. Ability to work with people who have varying levels of design and construction knowledge. Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training. 1–3 years of experience in architectural, engineering, or facilities fields, including renovation projects of $50,000 and up. Valid driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications Experience managing contractors and maintaining compliance with scope and budget. Skill in construction project management software. Knowledge of industry standards and utility system characteristics when inspecting and surveying building infrastructure. Ability to work with consultants and material vendors in exploring design and construction options. Knowledge of University Policies and Procedures applicable to the Irvine campus. Knowledge of principles used in preparing man‑hour and material estimates for various types of projects. Knowledge of the Public Contracting Code and Policies as they pertain to procurement of professional services, purchase orders, and construction contracts. USGBC LEED credentials (preferred). Project Management Institute – PMP (preferred). Association of Energy Engineers – Certified Energy Manager (preferred). Special Conditions Must have a valid CA driver’s license and participate in the DMV Pull‑notice program; must be able to work outside of regular hours, including on‑call; must comply with UC vaccine policy; and must be able to wear PPE. The expected pay range for this recruitment is $71,600–$99,500 annually.
