Facility Monitor

This is a part-time, on-call position. Under general supervision, the Facility Monitor monitors events taking place in rental facilities to ensure a safe event in compliance with the City's rules and regulations. The position provides administrative support as needed and delivers superior customer service to all patrons, including renters and guests, while overseeing facility rentals.

Essential Functions

Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at their assigned work location on the specified days and hours. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Opens and readies facilities for use; conducts walk through at start and completion of event with renter; monitors event and secures facilities upon completion of the rental.
• Interprets and enforces rules and regulations to the rental party; suspends or ends the event if renter and/or guests are unwilling to comply with the regulations.
• Promotes safety and maintains order at facilities during events; walks through the venue grounds periodically to confirm that all activity occurring is appropriate and safe.
• Performs administrative work, including making copies, laminating materials, reviewing rental packets, ensuring all permits are in order and displayed appropriately, and completing all reporting forms at the start and conclusion of each event.
• Provides excellent customer service to all rental groups; answers questions and concerns; troubleshoots problems and makes decisions based on all the information available.
• Operates facility equipment, including sound systems, laptops, projector, kitchen appliances, etc.; distributes, collects, and inspects all equipment.
• Performs general custodial maintenance duties such as mopping, sweeping, cleaning restrooms, and cleaning kitchen surfaces, tables, and chairs.
• Assists, on occasion, the evening and weekend park staff with locking up park restrooms and park gates.
• Handles various emergency situations in a calm and effective manner.
• Attends and participates in assigned meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines: High school diploma or GED AND must be at least 21 years of age; experience working with the public and large groups in a public setting is preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of: Strategies to cope with situations firmly and with respect. Operation of office and facility rental equipment. Policies, procedures, and regulations that govern the rental facility. Basic computer programs, phones, and office equipment. Customer service and communication strategies and skills. General office paperwork and organization. Health Department rules and regulations. Basic emergency protocols.

Skill in: Working and making decisions with limited to no supervision. Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing with all customers, service groups, and staff. Maintaining accurate records. Maintaining equipment, facility, and grounds. Enforcing rules and regulations with rental groups. Understanding and using basic computer programs, phones, and office equipment. Providing high quality customer service. Maintaining accurate records and files. Recognizing and addressing all safety and risk management situations.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: First Aid and CPR certification is required within six (6) months of hire.
