Your work on this team will help enable the funding of good causes like education, health care, senior citizens, roads, bridges, state parks and trails as well as the environment. Joining this team, you will be among peers in professional engineering that report up in small groups to a Software Development Manager. You will find these teams are made up of career-minded professionals that have chosen to be in the lottery industry.As an Advanced Software Engineer, you will need to be able to work both independently and as part of a team that works on complex systems with engineering challenges. You will be expected to have a strong technical foundation, extensive experience, and a proven ability to lead and mentor others, while also being proficient in the specific areas related to the code structure of the transaction engine.Responsibilities/Essential Functions:Design, Code and debug source code and scriptsGiven requirements, document, suggest and design solutionsParticipate in the requirements gathering phase of development projectsParticipate in code reviews as neededOccasionally participate in the support of production lottery systems when issues arise as an engineering expertAdditional, stringent State specific background checks on top of SG base checksThe position can have up to travel 10% or lessOther duties as assignedQualificationsRequired:BS in Computer Science (or acceptable equivalent)Strong educational background10+ years’ programming experience, preferably on a large-scale transaction processing systemProcedural application development in C on LinuxLow-level programming and debugging with C/C++Extensive experience and broad skillset with a propensity for learningStrong understanding of software design patterns and architectureShared memory and memory mappingStrong usage of data structures and binary serialization of data structuresProc SQLShell scripting (BASH) and basic Unix tools (awk, sed, tail, head, grep, etc)Experience with version control systemsMulti-threaded developmentDesirable:Json/Xml parsingSystem V IPC in a system with asynchronous processesOpenSSL use for Encryption/DecryptiongSOAP.
