Inventory Specialist

This position requires a self-motivated, highly organized, and detail-oriented individual responsible for the accurate receipt, identification, documentation, storage, and control of networking, telecommunications, data center, and related equipment.

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for performing higher-level inventory functions within the company's ERP system, including completing inventory receipts, creating and maintaining inventory items, developing accurate product descriptions and part information, creating and managing storage bins, processing inventory transfers, and maintaining accurate physical and electronic inventory records.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review purchase orders, receiving documentation, product information, and related records to determine inventory processing requirements and priorities.
• Perform final receipt inspection and verification of incoming equipment prior to completing inventory receipt transactions.
• Verify received products against purchase orders and related documentation to ensure correct part numbers, serial numbers, quantities, condition, configuration, and other required information.
• Identify networking, telecommunications, data center, and related equipment using manufacturer labels, part numbers, serial numbers, physical characteristics, internal records, technical documentation, online research, and other available resources.
• Research unfamiliar products and components to determine accurate manufacturer, model, part number, description, configuration, specifications, and other relevant product information.
• Create new inventory items within the company's ERP system when appropriate and ensure item records are accurate, complete, and consistent with established standards.
• Create and maintain accurate product descriptions, part information, manufacturer information, serial information, and other inventory-related data.
• Process inventory receipts accurately within the company's ERP system and ensure physical product and electronic inventory records correspond before transactions are completed.
• Generate, review, and apply inventory labels, serial number labels, bin labels, and other identification records as required.
• Create, maintain, and utilize inventory bins and storage locations within the company's ERP and warehouse systems.
• Determine appropriate inventory locations based on product type, size, quantity, configuration, accessibility, value, operational requirements, and available warehouse space.
• Process inventory transfers and other inventory transactions to maintain accurate physical and electronic product locations.
• Maintain chain of custody and product traceability as equipment moves between receiving, inventory, testing, refurbishment, quality control, fulfillment, asset recovery, and other operational areas.
• Identify, investigate, document, communicate, and escalate discrepancies involving quantities, part numbers, serial numbers, product identification, condition, purchase orders, inventory records, labels, or physical locations.
• Perform inventory research and reconciliation to resolve discrepancies between physical inventory and electronic records.
• Conduct inventory audits, bin verification, cycle counts, location checks, and other inventory accuracy activities as assigned.
• Determine appropriate labeling, organization, storage, and handling requirements for inventory based on product characteristics and operational needs.
• Coordinate with Warehouse Associates and other Operations personnel to ensure products are properly labeled, moved, staged, organized, and stored.
• Provide inventory processing direction and technical assistance to Warehouse Associates performing physical receiving, sorting, labeling, movement, and storage activities.
• Pull, verify, and prepare inventory for sales orders, evaluations, projects, asset recovery, internal requests, and other operational requirements as assigned.
• Review inventory records for accuracy, completeness, compliance with established procedures, and alignment with physical inventory.
• Maintain accurate electronic and physical inventory records to support inventory integrity, product traceability, order fulfillment, and operational planning.
• Move products between workstations, warehouse locations, storage areas, and designated staging areas using appropriate material-handling equipment.
• Maintain clean, organized, accurately labeled, and safe inventory and warehouse areas.
• Operate pallet jacks, carts, ladders, scanners, label printers, and other authorized warehouse and inventory equipment safely and efficiently.
• Support receiving, warehouse, order processing, shipping, asset recovery, and other Operations activities as business needs require.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

• Experience working in inventory control, receiving, warehousing, fulfillment, or a related operational role is required.
• Experience using an ERP, inventory management, warehouse management, or similar business system is required; NetSuite experience is preferred.
• Experience performing inventory transactions including receipts, transfers, adjustments, bin management, or similar inventory functions is strongly preferred.
• Experience creating or maintaining item records, product descriptions, part information, or similar inventory master data is preferred.
• Experience researching and identifying products using manufacturer information, part numbers, technical documentation, online resources, or similar methods is preferred.
• Experience performing inventory audits, cycle counts, reconciliation, or discrepancy investigation is preferred.
• Experience using handheld scanners, label printers, barcode systems, and related inventory technology is preferred.
• Experience working in a warehouse environment is required.
• Experience working with networking, telecommunications, electronics, data center, or related technical equipment is preferred.
