This contract role focuses on students in grades 6-8 within a resource room setting, allowing you to make a significant impact by delivering specialized instruction and fostering academic success.

You will collaborate with other educators and specialists to create individualized learning experiences that address diverse educational needs. The position offers the flexibility of either full-time or part-time hours, with a strong preference for full-time engagement (35-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday).

Qualifications:

• Valid Maine 282 Endorsement in Special Education, or eligibility to obtain
• Experience teaching students with diverse learning needs, preferably in a resource room or similar environment
• Strong understanding of middle school curriculum and IEP (Individualized Education Program) processes
• Effective communication skills for partnering with students, families, and staff
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans for middle school students in grades 6-8
• Collaborate with general education teachers, school counselors, and administrators to ensure student growth and success
• Track and monitor student progress, adjusting instruction and supports as needed
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in compliance with state and federal guidelines
• Engage in regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress
