With a set of piping isometrics and P&IDs in hand, you stage materials, verify specs, and plan your spool sequence so welding, testing, and turnover happen right the first time. This journeyman-level craft role is where safety, precision, and pride in workmanship come together—every flange, every gasket, every support exactly where it belongs.

• Interpret piping isometrics, P&IDs, spool and fabrication drawings, line lists, project specifications, and industry standards to plan safe, efficient installation.
• Lay out, measure, cut, bevel, thread, groove, bend, fit, and assemble carbon steel, stainless, alloy, and approved nonmetallic pipe in accordance with project needs.
• Install process and utility piping systems, valves, flanges, strainers, specialty components, pipe supports, and equipment tie-ins per approved drawings and specs.
• Confirm pipe size, schedule, materials, flange ratings, valve orientation, gasket/bolting, dimensions, slope, elevation, centerline, and alignment before installation.
• Prepare joints and coordinate fit-up with qualified welders—verifying cleanliness, bevel geometry, root opening, alignment, orientation, and fit-up tolerances prior to welding.
• Install and adjust hangers, clamps, anchors, guides, shoes, brackets, and other supports; coordinate any structural support changes with the right trades.
• Work with Riggers to safely hoist, position, and set pipe spools, valves, and mechanical components.
• Support hydrostatic/pneumatic testing, flushing, cleaning, line walks, punch-list closeout, startup, and turnover in full compliance with test plans and energy-control procedures.
• Execute shutdown work, tie-ins, line breaks, system modifications, and maintenance in active facilities following LOTO, hot-work, and site-specific rules.
• Keep tools, materials, work areas, and documentation organized; report unsafe conditions, damaged materials, or discrepancies; perform additional duties as assigned.

• Fabricate and install utility and process piping for services such as compressed air, water, steam, condensate, chilled water, chemicals, production lines, and other project-defined systems.
• Verify routing, spool orientation, valve access, nozzle alignment, drain/vent locations, slope, elevation, and clearances prior to final fit-up.
• Coordinate field measurements, spool dimensions, joint preparation, fit-up, and sequencing with Fabricators and Welders to support quality welding and efficient erection.
• Install/modify pipe supports, hangers, guides, anchors, shoes, and brackets; coordinate structural steel work with Ironworkers/Fabricators.
• Collaborate on rigging plans, lift paths, tag-line control, and spool positioning with Riggers and supervision before moving heavy or awkward pieces.
• Assist with equipment rigging and installation, boiler and chiller piping, skid fabrication/installation, plant relocations, facility expansions, new builds, and capital projects.
• Support material traceability, component IDs, inspection requests, test packages, punch lists, flushing, pressure testing, and turnover documentation.
• Perform code repair/installation only under approved procedures, QA/QC controls, and proper authorization.
• Shift between shop fabrication, field installation, maintenance, outages, and shutdowns based on project needs.

• At least 3 years of relevant industrial construction pipefitting experience.
• Proven journeyman-level skill; NCCER Pipefitter certification preferred (equivalent verified industrial experience considered).
• Ability to interpret isometrics, P&IDs, spools, fabrication details, piping specifications, and project instructions; capable of accurate field measurements and trade math.
• Working knowledge of materials, schedules, classes, fittings, flanges, valves, gaskets, bolting, joining methods, supports, and installation tolerances.
• Understanding of industrial welding processes and correct fit-up practices; able to spot misalignment, improper root openings, incorrect bevels, and other pre-weld issues.
• Background with process/utility piping, equipment tie-ins, industrial shutdowns, testing, and turnover; valid driver’s license and basic computer/mobile documentation skills preferred.

• Climb, balance, lift up to 50 lbs., and work at heights or in confined spaces.
• Coordinate eye–hand movements and safely operate cutting, beveling, threading, grooving, torquing, and material-handling equipment.
• Perform strenuous tasks including bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and handling heavy pipe, fittings, valves, tools, and materials.
• Work on active industrial jobsites—indoors/outdoors—with sustained focus, mobility, and safe movement around operating equipment.

Specialized threading, grooving, beveling, cutting, testing, rigging, fall-protection, and project-specific tools are supplied by Renfrow Industrial and/or the client as applicable.

• No formal pipefitter license is typically required; proven journeyman-level industrial experience and any project-specific qualifications are required.
• Works independently within assigned scope after skills and project requirements are verified.
• Tack/production welding is only performed when properly qualified, authorized, and under the applicable approved welding procedure.
• Pressure tests occur only under an approved plan and designated supervision; do not change test pressure, remove boundaries, or release stored energy independently.
• This position does not supervise or direct others unless specifically designated by management.
• Follow approved piping specifications, QC procedures, inspection hold points, material control, and documentation requirements.
• Perform shutdown work, tie-ins, repairs, and modifications strictly within assigned and authorized scope.
• Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, QA/QC, inspectors, welders, riggers, and other trades to ensure scope alignment and inspection readiness.
• This is a physically demanding craft role involving lifting, bending, crouching, kneeling, climbing, and handling heavy materials and tools.
• Comfort working in active industrial plants, manufacturing facilities, shutdowns, elevated areas, confined spaces, and outdoor heavy commercial jobsites.
